Great Western has 8 distinct claim groups in Nevada targeting both precious metals and base metals. Please explore each claim group and use the table below to see the different stages of exploration and subsequent evolution. Feel free to contact us with any questions you might have and we will be happy to help.

Snapshot

Jack Springs (JS)

Both copper and gold targets identified through geophysical surveys, soil sampling, and mapping of mineralised veins on surface.

Drilling in 2018 produced encouraging results with one hole hitting a large quartz-copper breccia vein at 106.2 metres, including 1.8m @ 0.74% Cu from 121m.

Key Facts

  • 3 diamond holes were drilled in 2018

Exploration

The copper target was identified through geophysical surveys, soil sampling, and mapping of mineralised veins on surface. Three diamond holes were drilled in 2018 to test beneath outcrops of cupriferous vein and silicic alteration. One hole, M4_005, hit a large quartz-copper breccia vein at 106.2 metres. The intercept comprised 43.0m @ 0.24% Cu, including 1.8m @ 0.74% Cu from 121m. The breccia vein, with an assumed attitude of NNW-SSE,  is open along strike, following the trend of the limestone-sediment contact.

Gold (Au), Arsenic (As) and Antimony (Sb) were all anomalous in samples taken along the northeasterly crest of the central ridge at M5. Gold (Au) was consistently anomalous with two samples in the 740 ppb Au range. Arsenic (As) and Antimony (Sb) were also anomalous, with highs of 1,736 ppm As and 51 ppm Sb. This coincidence of geochemistry and altered sediments strongly suggests Carlin-type disseminated gold mineralisation.

Great Western has a target range of 10,000 - 50,000 oz gold for the JS Group.

Geology

The Golconda thrust fault is a major structural feature spanning the length of Nevada. The large, disseminated silver deposits that were mined at Candelaria are intimately associated with the Golconda thrust fault. The Candelaria fault extends westward into California and passes through the southern Great Western claims.

The JS Group prospect is in altered siliceous host rock, exposed beneath caprock for one square kilometre north and east.
