Emerging US tungsten opportunity in Nevada
The Defender–Pine Crow Project is Great Western Mining's primary exploration focus. Located in Mineral County, Nevada, the project is centred on a series of historic tungsten workings within a mineralised skarn system that extends towards Great Western's existing M2 copper resource.
Recent exploration has strengthened the interpretation of an approximately 3 km mineralised tungsten trend linking the historic Defender, Pine Crow and Widowmaker mines with the M2 skarn system, highlighting the potential for a significant emerging tungsten opportunity within one of the United States' premier mining jurisdictions.
Geology
The project comprises scheelite-bearing garnet skarns developed along the contact between Cretaceous granitic intrusions and limestones of the Jurassic Dunlap Formation. Historic mining focused on high-grade tungsten mineralisation exposed at surface, while recent exploration indicates the mineralised system extends well beyond the historic workings.
